Sony PS4 - The next generation of video games console
Called the world's most powerful console by Sony, the PlayStation 4 (PS4) is Sony Computer Entertainment's successor to the hugely popular PlayStation 3 and Sony's addition to the eighth generation of video games consoles, competing with the Xbox One from Microsoft and the Wii U from Nintendo.
With the PlayStation 4, Sony aim to focus on social game play, with a share button being incorporated on the new controller and views of in game play streamed live from friends. The launch of the PlayStation 4 coincides closely with the launch of PlayStation Now; a cloud based gaming service that offers video gaming content to be streamed directly on your console. The PlayStation 4 is also designed to incorporate smart phones and tablets as second screens via applications. The PlayStation Vita is also designed to play the majority of PlayStation 4 via wireless remote play.
Not only is the PlayStation 4 "the most powerful console" on the market, Sony also worked with software developer Bungie to get their input on the controller and how to improve it and make it better for shooters, highlighting that Sony are committed to the needs of serious gamers while offering all the inclusive multimedia services that make the PlayStation 4 a viable all in one multimedia package.
