South Korean based NCSOFT is an online, video and mobile game developer, most famous for developing games such as Lineage, City of Heroes, Aion, Guild Wars and WildStar. Guild Wars was launched initially in 2005 as a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role playing Game) without a subscription model that has since seen the following expansions launched; Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North. As of 2009 Guild Wars had sold more than six million units. In 2011 NCSOFT purchase Hotdog Studio and thus moved into production of games for mobile phones, including titles for smartphones such as Dark Shrine.
